Anole is a 4 bedroom 4.5 bath home with a private pool. This two level design includes the great room and two bedrooms with ensuite baths, plus a half bath on the upper level, and two additional bedrooms with ensuite baths and the pool on the lower level.
You park on the upper level and when you enter the great room you will be immediately drawn to the spectacular views looking out over the north shore and Cinnamon Bay. The handsome great room, complete with beautiful island stonework, tiled floors, and cathedral ceiling was newly renovated and refurnished in 2018. The kitchen and interior dining are on the right side of the great room, while the living area occupies the left half of this attractive room.
The upper level bedrooms, each with a delightful screened in porch, spectacular views and a sitting area are located on opposite sides of the great room. A tiled sundeck runs the length of the great room, and exterior stairs off the sundeck lead to the pool and the lower bedrooms. The lower bedrooms are also good sized, with pleasant screened in porches and lots of privacy. A covered deck is located between the lower bedrooms.
The pool sits in a very private, lushly landscaped site on the west (left) side of the house and can be accessed by stairs from the house or by the stairs off the driveway.
If you are looking for a home with spectacular views, Anole is the home for you. Perfect for couples, families and anyone looking for a private St. John island retreat.

Anole is located along St. Johns fabled north shore, about 600 feet above the turquoise waters and white sands beaches of Cinnamon Bay. Anole is totally surrounded by St. Johns stunning National Park, and as with Peter Bay, the villas built in this beautiful neighborhood are distinctive, each offering their own personal charm. Although Anole does have a neighbor, Peace and Plenty, the privacy of this home is superb and this setting is the very definition of a peaceful, quiet and away-from-it-all island locale. The view is absolutely gorgeous and includes Tobago and Little Tobago Islands, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, and other islands floating on turquoise and blue seas. Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay lie below you and offer excellent swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, wind surfing, sunning and stress free relaxation.

CELL PHONE USAGE FROM HOMES LOCATED ALONG THE NORTH SHORE: If you use your cell phone on the north side of the island there is a good chance you will pick up the cell tower on Tortola (British Virgin Islands). If this happens you will be charged for an international call on your cell phone plan.

Renters might find it convenient to travel with a cellular carrier MiFi – a couple of examples are AT&T and Virgin Mobile. There will be no refunds due to the internet not working.

Nov. 2023 – If anything, the pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this place — the house, the location, the spectacular view. It took a little while to adjust to the lack of air conditioning, but it is built in a way to maximize fresh air flow. The pool is also a nice way to cool down. The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space as well as to congregate. We ate inside and outside. It is somewhat tricky to find, but that is also part of its charm.
July 2023 – Great location with a spectacular view of Cinnamon Bay. Four bedrooms with baths were perfect for four couples. Each bedroom had a view and a screened porch. The grand room had a vaulted ceiling and was the perfect setting for family meals around a large glass table. We enjoyed hiking on nearby trails and snorkeling along thje reefs and beaches.
April 2023-I usually stay in Coral Bay so this was a real treat. The view/location cannot be beat. The architecture was charming and the landscaping made it feel like we lived in a palm tree paradise. Be sure to rent a Jeep as the drive up the mountain is steep. But very worth it.
July 2022- The view from Anole is the highlight of this property! Stunning and spectacular! Great way to view God’s amazing handiwork! House is beautiful. Many have said it already, but the drive to Anole is tricky to say the least. We had a 2-door Jeep Wrangler and 4-door Bronco. The Wrangler was the best for the rough roads and hairpin turns. Definitely DO NOT try to bring a larger sized SUV.
The ocean breezes were wonderful and birds singing in the trees were beautiful. We did not realize this ahead of time, but most houses on St. John, including Anole, are not air conditioned. We were there in July, so we were probably warmer than the other months. It took some adjusting! There are a lot of fans that help to cool the air.
– What a wonderful stay we had! We’ve been to St. John several times and could not truly anticipate how gorgeous the views were from this spot. With a young traveler with us it was so convenient to come home to the pool for a break and still enjoy the beauty around us. We had plenty of space and enjoyed the layout of the house. We lost power on the island a couple of times during the week, the second time for an extended period. We would just ask the hosts to consider purchasing a generator, as others around us had, for those unexpected times. If traveling to St. John with a larger group again, we would certainly stay again!
– Spacious, comfortable home, but starting to show its age a bit. Just some minor repairs and it would be good as new. Extremely hilly access to get there and a very tight turn into the driveway if you have a larger vehicle (i.e. – Dodge Durango or other larger SUV). If we had a vehicle, such as the Jeeps you see everywhere on the island, I feel this would not have been an issue. Be aware that access to the two bedrooms downstairs is by outside staircase only – no interior access. We had all adults, but people with children may not find this optimal. Electric shutters to close off the bedroom archways to the screened in patios were missing in several bedrooms. Overall, a lovely home with plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and enjoy the unbeatable views of the north shore. Great sized pool with built in loungers. Updated kitchen, and 3 of the 4 baths were updated. Super comfortable mattress in the master bedroom (just off the kitchen).
-We have visited St. John over a half dozen times and have stayed in villas all over the island. This was by far the best location and view of them all. The view at this villa is absolutely spectacular. In addition, the property manager was very helpful and efficient. The property was very clean and the self-check-in and check-out procedures were easy and convenient. The beds and furniture were very comfortable and the internet was fast and reliable.
We added Anole to our villa portfolio in the summer of 2005. It is a unique vacation home in an absolutely stunning location, so adding this villa was an easy decision. Here is what makes Anole special:
- Cinnamon Bay and the north shore of St. John have now become one of the Caribbeans finest locations for villa rentals. The gorgeous views, the national park, and the peaceful, quiet atmosphere make this a very exclusive and desirable neighborhood.
- As you enter Anole, a 30 ft wide, 8ft tall wall of glass reveals the setting that defines this villa and makes it beautiful and exhilarating.
- Location, location… This is one of St. Johns most private homes. Although you have neighbors, (Cinnamon Bay Estate, Peace and Plenty), the lush tropical vegetation insures that you cannot see or be seen by another villa. The closest roofs that you see are on Tortola, three miles to the east. The accent on privacy is also built into the villa. With an oversized 350 sq/ft bedroom on each side of the villa and with two bedrooms up and two down, each bedroom remains very quiet and private.
- Each bedroom has a unique 150 sq/ft screened in porch that guests absolutely love. Each porch has two rocking chairs, and individual privacy and peacefulness. You can experience the natural sights and sounds of your lush tropical surroundings, up close, but without any winged intruders that go buzz in the night. At night the only lights visible are a sparse string of lights on Jost Van Dyke, and the glow of lights from Cane Garden Bay on Tortola. The stargazing is excellent, and the sensation of being on a tropical island, seemingly removed from civilization, is wonderful.
Anole is an excellent home for families, is also ideal for 1-4 couples, and this dreamy setting is well suited for honeymooners and lovers. If your travel plans include more than 8 people, Anoles neighbors are the lovely villas Cinnamon Bay Estate, (3 bedrooms), Peace and Plenty (4 bedrooms) and Cinnamon Ridge (5 bedrooms).
Note: A 4 wheel drive vehicle is advisable for Anole. The Anole neighborhood roads are unpaved, and the road conditions vary dependent on the weather. The roads are not dangerous, but can be bumpy due to periods of heavy rainfall during rainy season.
