Distance To Town: It is a 15-18 minute drive to and from the shops, restaurants and grocery stores in Cruz Bay.
Living & Dining: The great room includes the living and dining area, which open onto the kitchen, which look out to the expansive views of Reef Bay and beyond. The living room includes a couch and two chairs and a flat screen TV for streaming should you want to catch up on your favorite show. Large screened sliding glass doors and windows insure a bright, well-ventilated interior, but should you prefer a/c, just close sliding glass doors and windows and relax in air-conditioned comfort.
For dining you have five options. In the main house, there is a table for 4. Outside, just off the living room there is a deck with a table for 4. Out back, by the entrance to the main house there is a table for 8 with bench seating and to the right, between the main house and master bedroom cabana, there is a table for 8. Plus, for morning coffee, there is a bar height table for 2, located between the kitchen and right master bedroom. No matter where you choose to dine, you will enjoy the ever-present trade winds and beautiful views.
Kitchen: We cannot imagine a more picturesque setting in which to prepare a meal. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a gas cooktop stove and wall oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffeemaker, toaster, blender and an assortment of cooking, server, and dinnerware. A gas BBQ grill and washer/dryer are located off the kitchen.
Bedroom Details: The two air-conditioned master bedrooms, each with a king bed and cathedral ceilings, are located on opposite ends of the home in private and romantic cabanas. Each includes and ensuite bath with outside garden shower. The two additional air-conditioned bedrooms are located on the lower level, one bedroom includes a king bed and the second includes two bunk beds, which works perfectly for a family traveling with younger children. The lower-level bedrooms share a bath with an interior tiled shower. All the bedrooms have screened sliding glass doors which open up to decks and gorgeous views of Reef Bay.
Reef Break Vista is located on the edge of the National Park in Reef Bay. The road to Reef Bay ends about a quarter mile beyond your villa (the last house on the road is Cocolobo), and with almost no vehicular traffic and great natural beauty, this villa setting is exceptionally peaceful, pristine and beautiful.
The magnificent views include virgin subtropical rain forest on Bordeaux Mountain, the “Big Sur” like shoreline of the National Park and miles of blue Caribbean. Below you lay the usually deserted sands of Reef Bay Beach, St. John’s most virgin National Park beach where sea turtles still lay their eggs and snorkeling, swimming and beach walks are private and inviting.
A one mile hike along the shore brings you to a second beach at the head of Reef Bay while other trails take you on more challenging hikes through the National Park to Lameshur Bay, Bordeaux Mountain or Rams Head.
It’s a four mile drive to Cruz Bay, all of which is on what passes on St. John for a paved road, but Reef Bay is off the beaten path so few tourists ever explore this beautiful and relatively unknown area of St John.
CELL PHONE SERVICE: Cell phone service on St. John may be spotty with certain carriers. Additionally, North Shore locations may pick up cell towers on Tortola (The British Virgin Islands). If this occurs, expensive roaming charges could potentially be applied to your bill and/or you may be charged international rates. PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE PLAN BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE ISLAND. This villa is equipped with Wilson Cellular Signal Booster Technology, which is positioned towards St. Thomas. The system serves to stabilize and strengthen incoming and outgoing cellular phone and Internet signals at the house, and, in most cases, your communications will be via cell towers on St. Thomas and not Tortola. St. Thomas antennas are AT&T dominated. Thus, cell phone users on St. John find AT&T the company of choice for coverage, efficiency, and, at times, to avoid roaming charges. You may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T phone for your vacation if you use another carrier. Again, know your cell phone plan. Lastly, for communicating with friends and relatives off island from the villa, always consider your computer’s video Skype mode via the house’s WiFi system. In most cases, this will be free.
LOCAL PHONE SERVICE: Local phone service is available at this villa through the island’s only telephone company. As with many services on St. John, it can occasionally be interrupted. We will do our best to remedy the situation should this happen. Again, you may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T cell phone, since we do not provide cell phones should local phone service be compromised.
INTERNET SERVICE:Internet on St. John has traditionally been poor and via the Island’s single telephone company using DSL connections. On a Clear Day … is proud to announce that our Internet service is now provided Love City Community Network (LCCN), a non-profit, high speed, fiberoptic initiative created from the ground up by St. John Islanders immediately post Hurricane Irma in order to supply the area with emergency communication. Should LCCN connectivity be lost, villa Internet fails over to a backup AT&T cellular connection. A suggested backup system for guests to be used on other parts of St. John and in St. Thomas is mobile cellular Internet MiFi via AT&T or Virgin Mobile.
We are sorry that there can be no refunds for Internet and/or telephone failure.
PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.
POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.
