Wild Jasmine – Hansen Bay

Wild Jasmine is a charming 4 bedroom 4 bath home with a pool.  With its breathtaking views and tropical atmosphere, you will enjoy the laid back feel of what island living is all about.  In the main building, inviting great room, kitchen, living and dining areas are located in the center of the home, while the bedrooms are on opposite sides, offering privacy for couples, but with the inside access bedrooms, it works perfectly for families with children.  The new screened sliding glass doors from the great room open on to the deck and gorgeous views.  The spacious deck includes lounge chairs on your left, a cushioned couch and chairs on our right, and an outside dining table and gas grill.  No matter where you choose to relax, you will be in awe as you gaze out to the 180 degree west facing views of the Caribbean.

* The newly completed 2 bedroom 2 bath guest house is located to the right of the main house and there is an exterior walkway/staircase connecting the two living spaces.  When renting only the 2 bedroom main house, the guest house is closed off.  * Photos of the guest house and a full description will be added soon.

The pool is located on the lower level and is surrounded by tropical landscaping and colorful flowers.  You will enjoy being able to go for a refreshing dip after a day of exploring, or if you prefer a quiet day at home, spend it by the pool and work on your golden tan.  The choice is yours.

Living & Dining: Your living area is located in the center of the home and includes a sectional couch, with plenty of room to lounge after a day of exploring. The home includes your internet and a smart flat-screen TV for streaming. The new screened sliding glass doors and windows look out to the 180 degree views and offer an unobstructed vantage point of the turquoise blue seas, where you will enjoy watching sailboats glide by.

There is an interior dining table which seats 6 or if you prefer enjoying a meal out on your deck, there is exterior dining table for 6.

Kitchen: The kitchen is located on the back side of the home and is open to the living room, so while you prepare a delicious lunch or dinner, you will enjoy time spent together, laughing and catching up. The kitchen includes a gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and the very important blender for creating your tropical frozen beverages.

A gas BBQ grill and washer/dryer are included.

Bedroom Details: The two air-conditioned bedrooms are located on opposite sides of the great room. The bedroom on the right has two twin beds which can be converted to a king. The bedroom on the left has a king bed. Both bedrooms have similar bathrooms with single vanities and white tiled showers. Each bedroom has a screened sliding glass door which opens to the deck and the breathtaking views.

Wild Jasmine is located on the East End of St John in the Hansen Bay area.  The home is about a 45- 50 minute drive on paved roads from Cruz Bay and about a 12 minute drive from the center of Coral Bay.  Coral Bay is the sleepier side of St John, but don’t let this fool you.  This area still has plenty to offer.  There are several small grocery stores (Dolphin, Calabash and Love City Mini Mart) and some fun restaurants on this side of the island.  From a burger at Skinny Legs, to local Caribbean dishes at Miss Lucy’s, pizza from Salty Mongoose Pizza and Rum Bar or a Pacific Rim inspired menu with Caribbean touches at Rhumb Lines (their Cuban mojo pork is to die for!), there is something for everyone to enjoy.

For beaches, there are several within a 5 minute drive of Wild Jasmine.   Go swimming and snorkeling at Hansen Bay (rent kayaks – snorkel Pelican Rock), Haulover, Saltwell Bottom (locally owned – pay to park – rent glass bottom kayaks, lounge chairs, beach umbrellas) and if you like to hike (about 30 min), there is Brown Bay Beach.  You are sure to enjoy exploring these more hidden gems.

Most of all enjoy your time at Wild Jasmine.  The villa is tucked in to the hillside, and enjoys west facing views.   During the day, you will enjoy the magnificent and ever changing turquoise colors of the Caribbean waters and in the evenings, sit back and watch the nightly kaleidoscope of colors, including oranges, pinks, purples, yellows and blues, dancing off the water and surrounding hillsides. It is a sunset to behold.

**Though the roads are all paved to the villa, we recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle as this will allow you to explore St John to its fullest and a sedan does not do well with the ever present pot holes and sharp turns on the island.

CELL PHONE SERVICE: Cell phone service on St. John may be spotty with certain carriers. Additionally, North Shore locations may pick up cell towers on Tortola (The British Virgin Islands). If this occurs, expensive roaming charges could potentially be applied to your bill and/or you may be charged international rates. PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE PLAN BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE ISLAND. This villa is equipped with Wilson Cellular Signal Booster Technology, which is positioned towards St. Thomas. The system serves to stabilize and strengthen incoming and outgoing cellular phone and Internet signals at the house, and, in most cases, your communications will be via cell towers on St. Thomas and not Tortola. St. Thomas antennas are AT&T dominated. Thus, cell phone users on St. John find AT&T the company of choice for coverage, efficiency, and, at times, to avoid roaming charges. You may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T phone for your vacation if you use another carrier. Again, know your cell phone plan. Lastly, for communicating with friends and relatives off island from the villa, always consider your computer’s video Skype mode via the house’s WiFi system. In most cases, this will be free.

LOCAL PHONE SERVICE: Local phone service is available at this villa through the island’s only telephone company. As with many services on St. John, it can occasionally be interrupted. We will do our best to remedy the situation should this happen. Again, you may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T cell phone, since we do not provide cell phones should local phone service be compromised.

INTERNET SERVICE: Internet on St. John has traditionally been poor and via the Island’s single telephone company using DSL connections. On a Clear Day … is proud to announce that our Internet service is now provided Love City Community Network (LCCN), a non-profit, high speed, fiberoptic initiative created from the ground up by St. John Islanders immediately post Hurricane Irma in order to supply the area with emergency communication. Should LCCN connectivity be lost, villa Internet fails over to a backup AT&T cellular connection. A suggested backup system for guests to be used on other parts of St. John and in St. Thomas is mobile cellular Internet MiFi via AT&T or Virgin Mobile.

We are sorry that there can be no refunds for Internet and/or telephone failure.

PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.

POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.

March 2024 – We really enjoyed our first stay in coral bay!  This is my 17th vacation in St. John in 24 years!  Spectacular view! Sunsets and stars!! Big beautiful view across the bay to the ocean.
We loved the peace and quiet minus the baby goats calling out for momma’s at 4 in the morning. Used air conditioning more than we usually do as less trade wind breeze this side of the island. Long ride into Cruz bay but we got used to it. Enjoyed all the restaurants on the East side as well!
Kristen was great and very responsive.  We will book here again and maybe the entire villa !!

Jan. 2023 – This house was a gem! Tucked away deep in East End, there’s a gorgeous view from every room (even the bathrooms). The house was very clean and included cooking and beach essentials (towels, chairs, umbrella). The beds were comfortable and whether using AC or fans with doors open, it was perfect! The pool view was incredible as well. We enjoyed our stay!
