This pool deck and gazebo is one of the most private spots that we offer – perfect for “no tan lines” sunbathing.
The 2-level bedroom tower was completed in 2019 and houses two new master bedrooms and baths. The guest bedroom is on the ground level on the far left.
The new upper bedroom is accessed by interior stairs and has a king bed, a/c, TV and two decks.
The upper bedroom has views that look into Fish bay and the national park.
The upper bedroom’s first deck looks southwest with St. Thomas and sunset views in the distance.
The upper bedroom has a second deck that looks both west and east, for sunset and sunrise views.
The new lower bedroom has twin beds that convert to a king.
The lower bedroom also has a large sundeck that adjoins the courtyard.
The lower sundeck faces southwest and also captures afternoon sun and vibrant evening sunsets.
Both of the new bedrooms have identical new bathrooms.
The second lower bedroom has a 4-poster bamboo king bed with sliding glass doors that open to the pool deck.
Both lower bedrooms and the upper bedroom adjoin a common hallway that connects all three bedrooms.
The second lower bedroom also opens to the courtyard and mountain views.

For 24 years we’ve been telling our guests that there are very few villas that offer a sunrise/sunset view, plus unspoiled views into the national park, and exceptional privacy and peace and quiet. Over the Rainbow still delivers all three and remains a rare vacation treasure..

Over the Rainbow is an alluring 3-bedroom villa that remains exceptionally peaceful, private and scenic. Over the Rainbow consists of three connected buildings – a great room and two bedrooms on the ground level with a third bedroom on the upper level. The buildings are built in a u shaped design with a tiled garden courtyard and dining area in the middle, bordered by native stone walls. You park below the villa and ascend a stone stairway up to the courtyard, where you enter the great room or any of the 3 a/c bedrooms. The great room features 16′ x 8′ screened glass doors that open to an intimate pool, sundeck and gazebo, all with spectacular views of the south coast of the National Park. Past guests frequently tell us that they’re amazed by the peacefulness and beauty of this divine setting. The two new equally sized master bedrooms/baths are in a 2-story building with interior stairs. Both of these bedrooms have private west facing decks that capture afternoon sun and memorable sunsets, while the upper bedroom has a second deck with east facing sunrise views.

April – We have stayed at a number of homes through Caribbean Villas but none so private or secluded as Over the Rainbow. We had stayed here a few years ago before the second floor master bedroom was added and loved it then too. The panoramic views of Reef Bay and the national park never grows old and we like being able to walk down to the beach using Reef Bay Road (there’s a trail on the left near the end). The house is some distance from Cruz Bay but nothing like having to drive all the way out to Coral Bay.
Each of the bedrooms has a/c but we ended up not needing it because of the nearly non-stop trade winds. The kitchen is pretty basic but has everything you need to make great meals. The pool and numerous porches/balconies are really nice. Highly recommended.

Aug. 2023 – We had a wonderful week on St John and Over the Rainbow was a fantastic home to stay in. We loved the outdoor space. The views are gorgeous and there was always a breeze. The common room was comfortable for 6 adults. We prepared breakfast, lunch and few dinners with ease. The bedrooms are clean and had AC. As other reviews indicate, it is a further drive than other houses to beaches and town. It was fine for our family and made the trip feel more family oriented. I hope to come back!
