Orchid Hill is a newly updated 2-bedroom 2 bath home with a private pool and panoramic views that look out over Great Cruz Bay Harbor, Chocolate Hole and on a clear day, over to St. Croix.  No matter where you are relaxing, you will never be disappointed by this view.

The villa was designed by the well-known architect, Glen Speer.  Known for designing Mongoose Junction, he shared his design esthetic when developing the plans for Orchid Hill.  You will see his love of using island-style stonework throughout this beautiful villa.  From the moment you walk through the gate and up the stairs to the sun deck, your eyes will be immediately drawn to the views and infinity edge pool.  Do not stop here though, as just around the corner, your colorfully landscaped walkway will bring you to the whimsical courtyard and entrance to the villa that you will call home.

As you enter the main house, your interior air-conditioned great room has been lovingly decorated with comfort in mind.  Located to the right of the living area, is one of the primary bedrooms with ensuite bath and just behind the living room and facing out to the views, is your well-equipped kitchen.  The second primary bedroom with ensuite bath is located on the far left of the home.

The ‘piéce de résistance’, of Orchid Hill is the magnificent covered outdoor living area with a BBQ grill.  Centered between the main house and the second primary bedroom, this spacious living area includes comfortable furnishings, perfect for relaxing and spending time together. You may find, you will never want to leave.

Living & Dining: Your air-conditioned living area is beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished. It includes a flat screen smart TV; just log into your Hulu/Netflix account to watch your favorite movie or TV show. Or, with the oversized windows, you may find yourself mesmerized by the ever changing turquoise waters and boats gliding by throughout the day. No matter your choice, you are sure to relax and unwind.

For your dining pleasure, enjoy a meal in air-conditioned comfort at your interior dining table for 4-6. And for that morning cup of coffee, pull up one of the bar stools in the kitchen, to chart out your plans for the day.

In our personal opinion, the most spectacular feature of Orchid Hill, and there are many, is the indoor-outdoor living area, which is the centerpiece of this beautiful home. Located to the left of the great room, you will exit through a door to ‘heaven’ on St John. With its comfortable, cushioned couches, outside dining table for 4 and the breathtaking views of Great Cruz Bay and beyond, you will be in awe that this is where you have chosen to spend your vacation. If you are an early riser, put your feet up and watch as the sun rises over the horizon. In the afternoon, make your way to the hammock and take an afternoon ‘siesta, and if the evenings, spend time together, reconnecting and creating beautiful memories together.

Kitchen: The well equipped kitchen is located behind the living room, yet faces out to the magnificent views. So, if you are the designated ‘chef’, you will enjoy preparing a delicious, home cooked meal from this local. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances including your refrigerator freezer, gas range/oven, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, drip coffee maker and the very important blender. A washer/dryer is also available for your use during your stay.

Bedroom Details: The two air-conditioned bedrooms are equal in size and amenities. They are located on opposite sides of the villa to offer maximum privacy for guests. The primary bedroom on the right has interior access off the great room and includes a king bed and private en-suite bathroom with tiled shower. The second primary bedroom is outside access off the outside living area, and includes a king bed and private en-suite bath with tiled shower. No matter which bedroom you choose, you are sure to enjoy the gorgeous views.

At the south tip of the peninsula between Great Cruz Bay Harbor and Chocolate Hole Harbor is a perfect place called Maria Bluff. With a mix of luxury residential and rental homes, Maria Bluff offers the best of the Caribbean. Orchid Hill is no exception, with its stunning views of Chocolate Hole, the south shore of St. John and of Great Cruz Bay Harbor, no matter which way you turn, you will be in awe as you gaze out to the ever changing turquoise waters of the Caribbean by day and the beautiful skyline with its display of yellows, reds and orange at sunset. Just a 5 – 6 minute drive from Cruz Bay, you can easily access the shops, grocery stores and first class restaurants in Cruz Bay. Or you may find, you never want to leave your private island paradise, Orchid Hill.

CELL PHONE SERVICE: Cell phone service on St. John may be spotty with certain carriers. Additionally, North Shore locations may pick up cell towers on Tortola (The British Virgin Islands). If this occurs, expensive roaming charges could potentially be applied to your bill and/or you may be charged international rates. PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE PLAN BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE ISLAND. This villa is equipped with Wilson Cellular Signal Booster Technology, which is positioned towards St. Thomas. The system serves to stabilize and strengthen incoming and outgoing cellular phone and Internet signals at the house, and, in most cases, your communications will be via cell towers on St. Thomas and not Tortola. St. Thomas antennas are AT&T dominated. Thus, cell phone users on St. John find AT&T the company of choice for coverage, efficiency, and, at times, to avoid roaming charges. You may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T phone for your vacation if you use another carrier. Again, know your cell phone plan. Lastly, for communicating with friends and relatives off island from the villa, always consider your computer’s video Skype mode via the house’s WiFi system. In most cases, this will be free.

LOCAL PHONE SERVICE: Local phone service is available at this villa through the island’s only telephone company. As with many services on St. John, it can occasionally be interrupted. We will do our best to remedy the situation should this happen. Again, you may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T cell phone, since we do not provide cell phones should local phone service be compromised.

INTERNET SERVICE: Internet on St. John has traditionally been poor and via the Island’s single telephone company using DSL connections. On a Clear Day … is proud to announce that our Internet service is now provided Love City Community Network (LCCN), a non-profit, high speed, fiberoptic initiative created from the ground up by St. John Islanders immediately post Hurricane Irma in order to supply the area with emergency communication. Should LCCN connectivity be lost, villa Internet fails over to a backup AT&T cellular connection. A suggested backup system for guests to be used on other parts of St. John and in St. Thomas is mobile cellular Internet MiFi via AT&T or Virgin Mobile.

We are sorry that there can be no refunds for Internet and/or telephone failure.

PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.

POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.

Feb. 2024 – We have stayed in several villas on island. This stay we needed a villa with 2 masters. It was perfect. The architecture was beautiful. Unmatched views! Caribbean Villas were so easy to work with. The communication throughout the booking was painless and arrival was the easiest we have ever experienced. We had a couple of questions while on island and they were addressed immediately. We will definitely use Caribbean Villas in the future and hope to be able to stay in this villa again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchid Hill. Beautiful views of the sunrise, although I’m a sunset person and would prefer that. The outdoor living area is the highlight, we had 2 very breezy weeks so bugs were not an issue. Nicely equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare some of our own meals. Bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds. We had 2 maintenance issues during our stay and Caribbean Villas were quick to respond. Loved the pool, especially in the afternoons, after coming back from the beaches. Do wish the hot tub was working! Hummingbirds and sugar birds entertained us daily. “We have been coming to St. John for nearly 20 years and this is one of the best properties that we have stayed at! The views are everywhere and even better than the pictures; I especially loved sunrises from the deck and unobstructed views from the infinity pool. The great room is truly spectacular – a great place for morning coffee and a late afternoon break from the sun. The beds and pillows are exceptionally comfortable with high end bed and bath linens. The kitchen is well stocked including sharp knives (how many places have you stayed with dull knives?). The neighborhood is very conducive to walking – you can even walk a little over a mile to snorkel at Chocolate Hole. Driving and parking at the villa is easy-peasy by St. John standards, and the villa is conveniently close to multiple grocery stores and the restaurants and shops of Cruz Bay.
