La Collina – Great Cruz Bay (hillside)

La Collina is an appealing 4 bedroom 4 bath private home with a pool.  The spacious design consists of two levels,  the main level includes the great room and two master bedrooms and the lower level houses the two additional guest bedrooms.

The centerpiece of the main level is the great room with its open floor plan and 30 foot cathedral ceilings, stone walls and screened sliding glass doors that open on to a partially covered deck in the center, with sunning areas on either side. The kitchen, living and dining areas are comfortably furnished and look out to the stunning views of Great Cruz Bay Harbor.  By day, you will enjoy watching the boats glide by and in the evenings, the sunsets and twinkling lights of St Thomas, are not be missed.

The two master bedrooms (with a/c) are located on opposite sides of the great room, to ensure privacy, and both open on to the upper deck.  The two lower level guest bedrooms (with a/c) are accessed by an exterior staircase and are located on the far right of the villa.

The renovated pool and pool deck are located on the left side of the property, this tropical oasis includes ocean views, beautiful palm trees and colorful landscaping, making this a wonderful place to relax, ‘catch some rays’ and cool off with a refreshing swim.

No matter the number of people in your party, from a couple wanting some alone time to families and couples traveling together, you are sure to enjoy your stay at La Collina.

Living & Dining: The living room includes 30-foot cathedral ceiling, interior stone walls, tiled floors and comfortable rattan furniture creating a very classic and handsome tropical living space. For those times you want to catch your favorite TV show or sports game there is a flat screen TV with cable available for your viewing pleasure. A second living area is located on your covered deck; make your favorite cocktail, bring some munchies, and enjoy a front row seat to the fiery sunsets while looking out over the horizon.

La Collina enjoys several spacious dining areas, the interior teak dining room table seats 8, while the outside rattan table seats 6 -8 or for a casual lunch, you can dine at the table for 4 on the pool deck. No matter where you choose to dine, you will enjoy the beautiful harbor views.

Kitchen: The gorgeous kitchen has bamboo cabinetry made by a local craftsman and is accented with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances including a French door refrigerator, gas stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave and drip coffee maker. In addition, the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking and dining implements.

Bedroom Details: The two main level master bedrooms are located on opposite sides of the great room. Each bedroom is air-conditioned and includes a king bed, a flat screen cable TV, a walk-in closet and a private en-suite bath with tiled shower. Both bedrooms have screened sliding glass doors that open on to the spacious upper deck and both enjoy views of Great Cruz Bay. The two guest bedrooms are located on the lower level and are accessed by an exterior staircase. Each guest bedroom is air-conditioned and includes a queen bed, flat screen cable TV and private en-suite bath with tiled shower.

La Collina enjoys a quiet, peaceful and semi-private hillside location above Great Cruz Bay-Harbor, with excellent views of the harbor, distant islands and the Caribbean Sea. The south-southwest orientation of La Collina provides sun all day, spectacular sunset views in the early evening, and the twinkling lights of other islands after dark. It is an easy 6-minute drive to the restaurants, supermarkets and shops of Cruz Bay.

INTERNET SERVICE: The internet service is subject to frequent interruption. We cannot guarantee internet quality or speed. Renters might find it convenient to travel with a cellular carrier MiFi – a couple of examples are AT&T and Virgin Mobile. There will be no refunds due to the internet not working.

PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.

POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.

Apr. 2024 – This property suited our needs for a party of six. We loved the quiet neighborhood and the million dollar view! Close enough to town, grocery, pharmacy, and several takeout restaurants. Most enjoyable were our daily visitors to the house including chickens, iguanas, hummingbirds, and a cat. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Property Management was helpful and responsive. Enjoyed the flexibility of a self check-in. We will surely use Caribbean Villas again!

Dec. 2023 – My family and I stayed 2 weeks over the Holiday. Excellent location just 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay (downtown and ferry). Definitely recommend renting jeep through the property management company. The pool was a relaxing place to unwind and recharge while the more adventurous explored every beach and reef of the island. Highly recommended from a regular Caribbean traveler.

Nov. 2023 – La Collina was an amazing property. The house was beautiful and well appointed, and the view was incredible. Would stay there again.

August 2023 – Just on the edge of town, off the main road, so little to no traffic. Beautiful view of Great Cruz Bay and Westin resort. All bedrooms have individual AC units, full bathrooms, large beds and very spacious! Large kitchen/living/dining room. The host has provided nearly everything you would need to prepare and serve meals. Beach chairs, beach towels, a cooler are all provided, making your stay all the more enjoyable. The pool is perfect for evening dips and just congregating with your group. The steps to the main level are steep. But, there are 2 parking areas, up top and on the lower level. Plenty of parking for 2 or 3 vehicles. This was our first ever vacation away from home. And La Collina provided all of the comforts of home! Also, Kay is AMAZING! She was available to answer questions during our stay. Even checked in on us to see if we were enjoying ourselves!

July 2023 – My family enjoyed our stay at La Collina for a week in July. The property is located above the Westin Resort and has great views of the ocean. The home has 2 master suites on the main floor and the pool is adjacent to the home. On the below level, there are 2 separate guest suites each with their own bathroom. The air conditioning worked well in all of the rooms. The large room in between the 2 master suites is not air conditioned but there are plenty of fans to make it more comfortable. You can’t beat the location to the downtown area and the beaches.

June 2023 – Wonderful view, amazing plants and animals! Perfect setup for the 5 of us!!! Kitchen was great porch and pool perfect!!! Thank you so much!

August 2022 – La Collina was everything it was advertised to be and more. The house was gorgeous, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The rooms all have an AC unit in them, but the common spaces upstairs do not. My *only* complaint about this stunner of a property, is that I wished there was one more AC unit in these common spaces upstairs. We had fans, which certainly helped, but it did get a little warm when we were preparing meals. The ferry, the grocery store, and the downtown area are just a 3-5 minute drive away, and we highly recommend renting jeeps through the folks who manage La Collina as well. They made the pickup/drop off process very easy, and you need a Jeep or other 4WD vehicle to explore the island. I genuinely can’t wait to go back. This is the only place I’ll stay on St John.

June 2022 – I just wanted to thank you and your staff for all your help with our vacation! La Collina was absolutely perfect! My family loved it! The villa was extremely well stocked and convenient to Cruz Bay, but quiet and private. It was everything we were hoping for!
We had an incredible time on St. John, it was a dream vacation for our little family. Shamal and Kay Kay on island went out of their way to assist us. Please pass on to their supervisors how friendly and helpful they were. They went above and beyond to assist us.
We look forward to staying with Caribbean Villas again next time.

March 2022- The property is absolutely beautiful! The location is good, the house is clean with a well supplied kitchen. The pool is perfectly located that you can swim or lounge around and enjoy the gorgeous view of the bay. I would highly recommend this property.

March 2022 – The photos of the house and views from it were spot on! The views of Cruz Bay and the ships were amazing! We lived the outdoor deck and spent our evenings and dinners out there. The bedrooms were big and spacious and the living area was plenty of room for our family of 6. We would definitively rent the house again when we return to St John! A great adventure!

January 2022 – The property is exactly as described, with excellent view of Great Cruz Bay from the swimming pool/patio. Very clean, quiet neighborhood, close to town.

Dec. 2021 -The home is a comfortable home for family and friends, with a very nice view. Home is clean and is well stocked . The pool is small which is fine when you are on a island with so many great beaches . Would stay here again

July 2021 – Great location, high above the Westin and close to amenities and short drive to restaurants and bars. The most well equipped that we have seen in 20+ years of staying on St John…

– We planned this with shorter notice due to Covid and could not have been happier with the outcome. The house is definitely more updated and even nicer than pictures show. We could not have been more pleased with the perfect location close to town and amazing views just overlooking the Westin resort. I would recommend getting the rental agency to show you around when checking in only because there are a few quirks we have learned over time. Make sure the laundry room is fully latched and locked before bedtime so the doors don’t bang all night. The TVs are also a little complicated but a few days of trial and error and they are working great(only for the kids to see sports because with this view TVs aren’t necessary). The porches are perfection. We barely spent any time in the den. The main room and kitchen don’t have A/C but with the front and back porches we didn’t really care. The 2 queen bedrooms are accessible through outside steps. Also fine for us since our kids are old enough. The pool is small but we used it daily. It’s great for an evening soak or a rousing game of Marco Polo. We feel so lucky to have picked this house and hope to come back soon.
