Cruz Views is tucked into a tropical hillside 160 feet above the town of Cruz Bay. The units all face southwest to capture lots of sun and picturesque views of turquoise seas by day, memorable sunsets at days end, and the twinkling lights of distant islands at night. It’s an easy walk into Cruz Bay (downhill) but the walk back to Cruz Views is a bit more challenging, especially if you have enjoyed a few of the island’s infamous rum punches.
NOTE: The Cruz Views Complex has a resident outdoor cat that visits the property.
CELL PHONE SERVICE: Cell phone service on St. John may be spotty with certain carriers. Additionally, North Shore locations may pick up cell towers on Tortola (The British Virgin Islands). If this occurs, expensive roaming charges could potentially be applied to your bill and/or you may be charged international rates. PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE PLAN BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE ISLAND. This villa is equipped with Wilson Cellular Signal Booster Technology, which is positioned towards St. Thomas. The system serves to stabilize and strengthen incoming and outgoing cellular phone and Internet signals at the house, and, in most cases, your communications will be via cell towers on St. Thomas and not Tortola. St. Thomas antennas are AT&T dominated. Thus, cell phone users on St. John find AT&T the company of choice for coverage, efficiency, and, at times, to avoid roaming charges. You may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T phone for your vacation if you use another carrier. Again, know your cell phone plan. Lastly, for communicating with friends and relatives off island from the villa, always consider your computer’s video Skype mode via the house’s WiFi system. In most cases, this will be free.
LOCAL PHONE SERVICE: Local phone service is available at this villa through the island’s only telephone company. As with many services on St. John, it can occasionally be interrupted. We will do our best to remedy the situation should this happen. Again, you may wish to consider a pay-as-you-go AT&T cell phone, since we do not provide cell phones should local phone service be compromised.
INTERNET SERVICE: Internet on St. John has traditionally been poor and via the Island’s single telephone company using DSL connections. On a Clear Day … is proud to announce that our Internet service is now provided Love City Community Network (LCCN), a non-profit, high speed, fiberoptic initiative created from the ground up by St. John Islanders immediately post Hurricane Irma in order to supply the area with emergency communication. Should LCCN connectivity be lost, villa Internet fails over to a backup AT&T cellular connection. A suggested backup system for guests to be used on other parts of St. John and in St. Thomas is mobile cellular Internet MiFi via AT&T or Virgin Mobile.
We are sorry that there can be no refunds for Internet and/or telephone failure.
PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.
POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.

Jan. 2024 – Overall, this was a great property. The condo was clean and had all of the amenities we needed. We loved the pool area…we used it everyday. Location of the condo is great as you are close to Cruz Bay and major roads to take you on your adventures around the island. It is located up a very steep hill, so as others have mentioned, it is not really feasible to walk into town.
April 2023 – Everything was wonderful concerning the accommodations themselves. The kitchen has all you need, and the master bedroom has a very comfy bed! My kids loved the ladder to the loft, and the air conditioners both in the bedroom and loft worked great to keep those areas cool. To keep the rest of the place cool, we closed the windows and pulled the drapes when we left for the day. The view from the balcony is outstanding, but not of Cruz Bay– more of the bay where the car ferry comes in. Still gorgeous since it is way up on the hill, and St. Thomas and other small islands are visible. Also, so much nature to view right from the balcony: bananaquits, pearl eyed thrashers and bullfinch (birds) visit, small reptiles and iguanas are down in the grass and bushes below, and very few insects at all. Oh, and the cat that comes to visit is very cute, but is the look-don’t-touch type. Tip: If you aren’t renting a jeep, that hill to and from town is NO JOKE. If you are in shape and take it on foot, wear some good footwear with gripping soles (not flip-flops or sandals). It is STEEP! It showed me just how cardiovascularly unfit I really am! If you are not in superior shape, you will have trouble and be sore. And at night, there are no lights on the steepest part of the hill in addition to very little room to walk and no sidewalks most of the way up and down on the very narrow roads. On the other hand, a taxi is easy to catch in town or call from your condo, and it was around $6 per person one way(there were 3-4 of us at a time).
Mar. 2023 – What a view!
Feb. 21, 2023 – Easy enjoyable & friendly process. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Feb. 2023 – The property is nice and as described. We didn’t rent a car and we’re able to walk to Cruz Bay.
– Jan. 13, 2023 – The whole stay was great – Cruz View #5 was exactly as advertised and perfect for what we needed. The location was easy to get to town (I know many people commented on the hill- we rented a jeep and drove back and forth without issues – and on one occasion we had a taxi drop us off and it had no trouble doing so). The air conditioner worked great to keep the place cool at night (we were out during the day time), and the bed was comfy. We didn’t use the twin beds upstairs – I think that the ladder to access that space might be challenging for young kids (under 9-10ish) or older adults – but we didn’t need to use that room. We had to contact the property manager once about a minor issue with the smart TV and they addressed it immediately. The whole experience was wonderful and we’d stay there again.
-Stayed here (2 couples + 1 friend) for a wedding. This was a great stay for us who are all ages 25-30. The location was close to town but there was a huge very steep hill to come back to the villa. When we got lucky getting a taxi up it was cheap and fast, when we couldn’t get a taxi because we stayed out too late we were stuck walking and it was a very very very steep hill. Highly suggest this location for active people. The villa was clean and a perfect size for us.
-Well maintained property. The hill to it walking is definitely a challenge. We did get a lot of exercise though which was great! It could use ac through out instead of just in bedrooms. We did however enjoy our stay! Property managers were top notch!
-Very nice accommodations. Beautiful view from the condo balcony. Steep hill to walk up, easy to get into town.
-It was supplied with everything you would need for a vacation in the Islands including beach chairs, cooler and towels. Management was very responsive and attentive. We had a issue setting up streaming on the TV, someone came over within 5 minutes to handle. Although it is close to town it is not a pleasant walk, there is a steep hill and a portion of the road is busy with traffic
-Condo is well appointed, everything we needed we had; beach chairs, cooler, towels, etc. Check in process was awesome, Mearle picked us up at the docks and showed us everything we needed to know. Thanks
