Cruz Views #03 – Mosaic Sunset – Cruz Bay (hillside)

Mosaic Sunset, Cruz Views #3, is a center unit that sits over the pool of the facility. This unit commands the BEST and most sweeping views of the complex, the harbor below, and distant islands beyond. The quaint, yet cozy deck offers ultimate privacy and security, whether it be for early morning coffee or late night cocktails. The comfortable wicker rockers are the perfect perch for viewing magical late afternoon sunsets or watching the romantic allure of twinkling far off island lights at night.

Mosaic Sunset has been completely remodeled with a beautiful brand new kitchen, complete with all new appliances, a new peninsula bar with stools, all new furniture and amenities. Bright colors and artwork adorn the Master bedroom that overlooks the Great Room through tropical Caribbean shutters. The Master has beautiful Tahitian island furnishings, a new queen Sealy Marriott Euro-Plush firm bed, A/C unit which cools not only the bedroom, but the Great room as well, and a 32” smart HD TV with cable & DVD.

The 2nd bedroom is accessed by a ship’s ladder, attached to the wall, and is not designed or recommended for children under 12.  It is tastefully, but whimsically appointed. It, too, is furnished with 2 XL Twin Sealy Marriott Euro-Plush firm beds (does not convert to king), TV, DVD and has its own A/C unit. Views from the “crow’s nest” are spectacular! The Great Room has a queen sleeper sofa (sleeps 2) and provides a comfy spot to catch a late night movie or a favorite game on the new 50” smart LED HD TV, also equipped with cable and WiFi.

The stairway from the Great Room leads up to the private quarters and the amazing original Caribbean style bathroom. Smooth sea-polished Caribbean stones soothe your feet as you enjoy a refreshing shower, perhaps while you prepare for a night out. And more, you are surrounded by incredible artwork of the Mosaic Sunset, created by a famous local artisan of St. John.

Put your fresh catch on the grill or cook in for that special island style dinner as you enjoy a quiet evening on the deck, around the pool or just at home after a long, relaxing day at the beach.

Cruz Views is tucked into a tropical hillside 160 feet above the town of Cruz Bay. The units all face southwest to capture lots of sun and picturesque views of turquoise seas by day, memorable sunsets at days end, and the twinkling lights of distant islands at night. It’s an easy walk into Cruz Bay (downhill) but the walk back to Cruz Views is a bit more challenging, especially if you have enjoyed a few of the island’s infamous rum punches.

NOTE: The Cruz Views Complex has a resident outdoor cat that visits the property.

INTERNET SERVICE: The internet service is subject to frequent interruption. We cannot guarantee internet quality or speed. Renters might find it convenient to travel with a cellular carrier MiFi – a couple of examples are AT&T and Virgin Mobile. There will be no refunds due to the internet not working.

PHONE SERVICE/CELL PHONES: Local phone service is interrupted regularly and in spite of our efforts to reinstate service it can sometimes take weeks. AT&T is the only cell service we find operates efficiently on the island. If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.

POOL FLOATS: Pool floats are not guaranteed with your villa rental. If you want access to them, please bring them with you.

VEHICLE INFORMATION: A 4 Wheel Drive vehicle is needed for travel on St John.

Feb. 2024 – Great place. Great view. Comfortable bed. Good pool. Great communication. A few notes for future renters, the hill is quite the challenge and my wife and I are in good shape. We did it a few times but definitely preferred taking a cab or driving up the hill.

Jan. 2024 – Check in and out was very easy. Amazing location, had everything we need. Incredible views. We will be back.

Oct. 2023 – Lovely condo!! Clean, great location, beautiful views & large pool. This unit has everything you would need, yet open & airy. Small issue with the toilet and it was addressed & fixed within a few hours. Booking was simple & friendly! Would definitely recommend Cruz Views and Caribbean Villas of St. John!

Apr. 2023 – The apartment is beautiful, modern, artistic, and tasteful. The views are amazing – both from the living room/terrace, and from the “crow’s nest”. We had everything we needed, and the kitchen was fully equipped. Now, for the ships’ ladder to the second bedroom – there was no picture of it, and I didn’t realize how high you have to climb. My husband and I don’t think it is safe for children to sleep upstairs. For younger kids it’s out of the question, we didn’t even let our 11 years old sleep there. It is very realistic for children to wake up at night to go to the bathroom (or for whatever reason), be disoriented and not realizing in the dark in their sleepy state that they are not at home, and take a plunge straight down the ladder opening. The problem is not going up and down the stairs, but if the child wakes up at night. I ended up sleeping upstairs with my teen daughter, and even that I thought it was fun the first day, it was too much for me by the end of the week climbing up and down after a full day of hiking and snorkeling. And it was difficult to bring things up and down since you need both hands for holding on to the rail/ladder. As for the location – it’s perfect. It is 2 minutes drive from the town center, and you can also walk to town (though it’s not too pleasant in the section of the main road that doesn’t have sidewalks), probably took us 10 mins.

Feb. 2023 – Great location however, the road up to the condo can not be under estimated. You really do need to rent a car or be prepared to spend a lot in taxi fair. Condo was very nicely furnished and wonder view.

Dec. 2022 – This was our fourth trip to the island and our second stay at Mosaic Sunset. The location of the property is perfect. Less than a 1 min drive into downtown Cruz Bay where we enjoyed dinner every night. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and allowed us to make a delicious Christmas dinner right in the Condo! The kids enjoyed the pool every day, even after long days at the beach! The view from the balcony is hard to beat…I dream about getting back to watch just one more sunset!

July – We had a great stay! The description and reviews are accurate. The ladder to the 2nd bedroom is steep, but manageable. Amazing views! We did not rent a car and we’re easily able to call for taxis. It was everything we needed. Would stay again!
