LOCATION. The Beach House sits on the choicest land in the middle of the pristine beach at Peter Bay, in the very heart of St. John's renowned National Park. The villas at Peter Bay are without a doubt, St. John's most impressive collection of grand, luxurious villas But even within this exclusive community, the unspoiled location of the Beach House sets it apart from the other magnificent Peter Bay villas. Peter Bay is one of the few parcels of north shore land that was not deeded over to the National Park by Lawrence Rockefeller in the 1950s. Although Peter Bay and its beach are privately owned, it remains surrounded on all sides by National Park forests and waters. The beach at Peter Bay is located between the National Park beaches at Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay and is very similar to these world class, exceptionally beautiful beaches. Imagine fine white sand, calm (usually) turquoise waters and steep hills of lush tropical forest that plunge into the sea - this is Peter Bay. On a perfect beach day in February the National park beaches will host hundreds of people, but it's rare to see even a handful of people on Peter Bay. For beachfront privacy, tranquility, natural beauty and modern luxury villas, this is as good as it gets.

Because the Beach House sits 12 steps from the Caribbean, you awake each morning to the music of gently breaking surf and Caribbean songbirds. The swimming and snorkeling are excellent and the trade winds blow softly here. The marvelous views include Cinnamon Bay and the north shore of St. John, as well as Jost Van Dyke, Great Thatch and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. It's a 10-15 minute incredibly scenic drive into Cruz Bay on paved roads.

DESIGN. The design and furnishings of this lovely home appear to a blend of a classic Caribbean plantation house with a graceful French country home. The result is an elegant, undeniably tasteful, yet very comfortable and livable island home in which the size and architectural style of the buildings are perfectly matched to the location and the lay of the land.

The Beach House consists of a 2-level great house and a 2-level guest house with an antique brick courtyard and pool area connecting the two buildings. The lower level of the great house contains the kitchen, living and dining rooms, while the large master bedroom/bath, massage room, office and dressing room are on the upper level, accessed by hardwood interior stairs. On the ground level, a spacious covered veranda with loads of comfy furniture runs the entire 50-foot length of the beach side of the house. Another covered porch with deck furniture runs along the poolside of the great house. There is a palm enclosed brick garden patio with barbeque grill on the south side of the house. The guesthouse contains a beautifully appointed bedroom and large bath on each level. The upper level is accessed by interior hardwood stairs.

In building the Beach House, great care was taken to preserve the original trees and the mature tropical vegetation. As a result, the villas' lovely architectural lines are beautifully accented by abundant tropical landscaping. LIVING/DINING. The living and dining rooms are defined by 16 foot beamed ceilings, columned arches, tiled floors and outsized fully screened mahogany French doors. Like every other aspect of this beautiful home, these rooms are stunning, but in a subtle and alluring way. The furniture and furnishings follow the same theme, elegant and impressive but not the least bit overdone. The centerpiece of the living room is a working fireplace and the room is filled with antiques, oriental rugs and art. The sink into it furniture is plush and comfortable and there's a half bath off the living room. Living room essentials include; satellite TV with DVD, stereo with CD player, a large movie collection and books and games and an inter-villa intercom.

The formal dining room contains a baby grand piano and a mahogany table that seats 6. There is also a 6-person dining table on the beachside veranda and the garden courtyard has a barbeque grill and a wrought iron table that also seats 6.


KITCHEN. The kitchen is the best combination of beauty and functionality that we have seen in a St. John home. Coral countertops, columned mahogany windows, a 6-burnner Viking gas stove, a stainless steel Subzero refrigerator, stainless steel appliances, mahogany cabinets, a wine rack and lots more. This is definitely a gorgeous place to prepare meals. A washer/dryer is off the kitchen.


BEDROOMS. The master bedroom is easily one of St. John's most outstanding bedrooms, with hand cut hardwood floors with oriental rugs, a fireplace, an imposing 4-poster mahogany bed (king), antiques and artwork throughout, custom built mahogany screened doors that open to a private balcony with hammock, satellite TV with DVD and VCR, stereo with C/D, a 3-room bath with sunken tub and outdoor shower and a massage room. In general, this is a beautiful and romantic bedroom. The two guest bedrooms are also beautifully furnished and accessorized with mahogany (king) beds, hand carved sleigh beds for children, oriental rugs, antiques, hand carved wood sculpture and other artwork, private decks that open to Caribbean views and a private tiled bath. All bedrooms are air-conditioned.

CARIBBEAN VILLAS' COMMENTS. The development along the beach at Peter Bay has been well controlled and the beach retains the low key character that is the essence of the north shore of St. John. The visionary developer who kept the hotels and condos out of Peter Bay also set aside the best beachfront land for the construction of a beautiful home, which he designed and built and then named, the Peter Bay Beach House.

The house itself, its furnishings, fixtures, décor and design would qualify as one of St. John's finest homes regardless of where it was located. But when you place this fabulous villa on the choicest lot in the center of beautiful Peter Bay Beach, this combination of superb house and extraordinary location makes the Beach House an exceptional property that definitely deserves to be one of St. John's Ultra Luxury Villas.

The owner of this villa lives here many months each year. This villa feels like a real home (look at the kitchen) because this is the owner's favorite place to come home to. The owner's fine taste and love for this villa shows throughout with many of the owner's favorite antiques, curios, artworks and collectibles displayed throughout the house. The total effect is a warm, homey and inviting atmosphere that says, "welcome to my beautiful home". With its ultra romantic essence, the Beach House is an idyllic villa for honeymooners and lovers. The bedroom arrangement also works well for 2-3 couples and families with children love this location. Actually, there are very few people who wouldn't love this villa because it has something for everybody. It is now widely acknowledged that St. John is the premier island for villa rentals in the Caribbean, and that the homes at Peter Bay (see also Sea Cove and Coco De Mer) have redefined the concept of grand, luxury rental villas on St John. It is also now well accepted that the Peter Bay Beach House is, without exception, the finest beachfront villa on St. John. When only the best will do, the Beach House will not disappoint.

If you do not have AT&T we strongly suggest you bring a pay as you go AT&T cell phone with you as we do not provide cell phones should the local phone service be interrupted.

CELL PHONE USAGE FROM HOMES LOCATED ALONG THE NORTH SHORE: If you use your cell phone on the north side of the island there is a good chance you will pick up the cell tower on Tortola (British Virgin Islands). If this happens you will be charged for an international call on your cell phone plan.

Internet Service: The internet service is subject to frequent interruption. We cannot guarantee internet quality or speed. Renters might find it convenient to travel with a cellular carrier MiFi – a couple of examples are AT&T and Virgin Mobile. There will be no refunds due to the internet not working.
