LOCATION. The tip of the peninsula between Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole Harbor is called Maria Bluff and it is home to Las Brisas Caribe. Maria Bluff has always been a quiet area of expensive villas, and with the completion of Las Brisas a new standard of excellence has been set for this upscale neighborhood. The beautiful water views from Las Brisas extend for 180 degrees across the sun splashed sea and include dazzling Caribbean sunsets and the distant twinkling lights of St Thomas and other islands at night. The restaurants, beach, tennis courts and fitness room at the Westin Resort are less than a 5 minute drive, and the charming boutiques, restaurants and nightlife of Cruz Bay are less than a 10 minute drive on paved roads.

DESIGN. Las Brisas is a superbly designed and constructed, distinctively furnished home that was completed in 2002. It is built on 4 levels with the pool, stone gazebo, pool deck and a guest bedroom located on the lower level. The kitchen, dining room, living areas, decks and patios and two guest bedrooms are on the main level. The master bedroom and covered balcony is on the 3rd level and the crows nest is on the 4th level. This handsome design incorporates tiled roofs, beamed cathedral ceilings, private covered verandas supported by 12' Doric columns, gorgeous stone walls, tiled floors, and mahogany French doors that open to antique brick patios. Las Brisas is a south facing, sunny home but every room is cooled by A/C, ceiling fans and gentle breezes. The gazebo and many covered decks also provide plenty of cool shady places to enjoy the views.

LIVING/DINING. The formal dining room seats 8 in style, while a breakfast dining area on the terrace seats 4 under a lattice arbor.

The living room is a classic statement of Caribbean distinction with decorative stonewalls, large French doors, a towering cathedral ceiling, and comfortable tropical furnishings.


KITCHEN. The kitchen is one of the finest that we have seen in a St. John rental villa and includes a 6-burner gas stove, Jenn Air refrigerator, granite countertops, handsome mahogany cabinets, a Viking range and abundant cookware and dinnerware.


BEDROOMS. The elegant and romantic theme found throughout Las Brisas is reflected in all 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom is truly lovely and includes a 4-poster hand carved king bed, a complete entertainment center, a desk/workspace, and a divine tiled bath with an antique bathtub and an open air shower. The two guest bedrooms on the main level have 4 poster queen beds and the pool level bedroom has 2 twins that convert to a king. All bedrooms have a feeling of gracious romance and include A/C, cable color TV/DVD, stereo/CD systems, walk in closets, attached tiled baths with open air showers and French doors that open to furnished private decks with sunset views.


CARIBBEAN VILLAS' COMMENTS. Las Brisas represents a beautiful blending of classic Caribbean architecture with all the comforts of a luxurious, tastefully furnished modern home. Words like elegant, refined, and lovely accurately describe this villa, and any "top 10" list of St. John's finest villas should include this exquisite home. Everything about Las Brisas is impressive, including such delightful features as a swimming pool with a gently flowing waterfall, the truly gourmet kitchen, the romantic "crows nest" sunset gazebo, air conditioning and cable TV/DVD throughout, abundant and colorful tropical landscaping, and picturesque views from all rooms of the house.
