DESIGN. [Note: Coconuts was remodeled, refurnished and refinished in 2004.] Coconuts is a sister home of Seawatch and a close cousin of Sea Wind and Palm Villa. Like these homes, Coconuts is a handsome example of traditional Caribbean architecture. As you walk through the entry doors you step into a lovely tropical setting of sea, sky and villa, with four hip roofed buildings connected by decks, covered walkways and patio gardens. The great house is a 2-level building that contains the great room, the dining room, and a loft bedroom and bath. The remodeled kitchen and the great house are on one side of the pool and the master and guest bedrooms are on the other side with all the rooms except the loft bedroom on the pool (lower) level. A large gazebo on the deck shelters a lovely outdoor living and dining area. Exposed beam cathedral ceilings with ceiling fans, mahogany and glass French doors, interior gardens, arched and screened windows, terra cotta tiled floors throughout, soft romantic night lights, and spacious decks create an inviting and relaxing tropical atmosphere in this well furnished, very charming home.
Coconut's offers an array of dining options. Inside, the dining room seats 6-8 in a casually elegant setting in the great house. Outside, one of St. John's best tables for sunset cocktails or dinner views is reserved for your party on Coconuts deck, under the gazebo at a wicker dining table for 6. There is also a breakfast/lunch umbrella table for 4 on the deck. The refinished kitchen includes a tiled bar with bar stools for hanging out and entertaining the chef. Kitchen equipment includes a dishwasher, microwave oven, 4 burner gas stove with oven, refrigerator, toaster, blender, coffeemaker and a complete assortment of pots, pans, utensils and kitchenware. A separate laundry room with washer/dryer is located off the kitchen.
CARIBBEAN VILLAS' COMMENTS. In 2003 Coconuts (formerly Caribe Villa) was acquired by new owners who immediately began to refinish, refurnish and remodel their new home. The extensive work was completed in 2004, and Coconuts is now more charming, comfortable and appealing than when it was new. We can say that with some confidence, because we have been renting this villa since it was first built. Coconuts was designed by the same architect who designed Palm, Seawatch, and Sea Wind and it is very similar to them. Based on reviews from hundreds of past guests of these villas, this 3-bedroom design is one of St. John's favorites. Caribe Villa (now Coconuts) has always been a popular villa because it combines traditional grace with stylish comforts. Thanks to its pool, a/c, privacy, magnificent views, stunning sunsets and cozy intimacy, it will remain a favorite. With a pool/sundeck that gets all day sun, and a large outdoor dining and living area under the protection of the gazebo, Coconuts will please the sun lovers or the shade dwellers. The child friendly railings, adjoining bedrooms, and multiple TVs make this a good choice for families. With its majestic sunset and evening views, soft night lights, and warm breezes, Coconuts is also a romantic and intimate love nest that we recommend for honeymooners, couples and lovers of any age. Like St. John itself, this villa just keeps getting better.
